POLICE CAPTURES ESCAPED SUSPECTED RITUALIST IFEANYI DIKE IN JOS

The Jos Command of the Nigerian Police has captured Ifeanyi Dike, the suspected Ritualist who escaped from Police custody after being arrested for killing an 8 year old girl in Eliozu, Port Harcourt.

According to police sources, Ifeanyi was arrested in a community in Jos on Thursday night by a Divisional Police Officer who recognized him. The Rivers Command says it has sent his men to extradite him to Port Harcourt, so he can face the charges against him.

In the mean time, a photo have been circulated as evidence of his arrest.

The manhunt for the suspect was made public two days after his escape, and a photo of him was released at the time. The Rivers State Police command came under serious public scrutiny which climaxed with a protest at Eliozu and a call for the resignation of Rivers Commissioner of Police.

The command had earlier arrested a DPO and Sergeant who it believes aided the escape of Ifeanyi Dike. The sergeant was arraigned before a magistrate court and is billed to appear for hearing at a high court this September. He was dismissed by the force.

It is believed that the suspect was allowed to escape so he wouldn't give up his sponsors who may be top people of influence in the society.
